The City of Brisbane
Brisbane is the third largest city in Australia with a population of 1.8 million and is growing faster than any other Australian capital city, at a rate of 2.2% per year. Situated by the Brisbane River on a picturesque floodplain between Moreton Bay and the Great Dividing Range in Southeastern Queensland, the city boasts beautiful parks including 2 botanic gardens and numerous scenic river walks. See the city on foot or while aboard the City Cat ferry, which is a convenient transport option when travelling between the city and university. Other popular attractions in Brisbane include the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art and vibrant South Bank Parklands.

The welcome reception will take place in the foyer of the Art Museum of the University of Queensland on Tuesday, 7 July 2008, 7-9 PM. The registration desk will be open during this time and on each morning during the conference.

Conference Banquet
The conference banquet will be held in historic Customs House (Customs House) in the city on Thursday, July 9. CityCat Ferries can transport attendees from the UQ ferry terminal (UQ map) to the Riverside stop in the city. Customs House is a large sandstone building directly on the water, and is an easy 400m walk downstream from the ferry stop.
Banquet tickets are being heavily subsidised to keep costs down, so please plan to attend what should prove to be an enjoyable event in exotic surrounds.
Please note that student registration includes one banquet ticket.
